The Art World framing workbench with tools and moulding samples

Our story

10 years in Forest Hills.

We have had two locations over the years, both in Forest Hills, and today you'll find us in one place on Metropolitan Avenue — same family, same shop, same phone number you call today.

1960

Art World opens on Austin Street in Forest Hills. Custom framing, done by hand, for a neighborhood that was mostly walk-ins.

1970s–80s

Word travels. Diplomas, wedding portraits, needlework and jerseys come through the door — often from the same families twice over.

1990s

The animation collection begins. Cels and drawings from the studios go up on the back wall, and the shop becomes a gallery too.

2000s–today

Teri keeps both halves running: framing at the counter, animation art on the walls, same neighborhood, same phone number.

Why two things in one shop

Framing and animation art come from the same instinct: something is worth keeping, and worth looking at every day. The framing counter takes care of what you already own. The gallery is where you find the next thing. They share a room because they belong together — and because everything on our walls was framed right here.
